The Okanagan

The Okanagan Valley is renowned for its beautiful natural landscapes which include mountains, valleys, lakes, deserts and everything in between. It’s a region that truly has something for everyone. Foodies flock to the world-class restaurants (many set in wineries with spectacular views over lake and vineyards); families can’t get enough of the many sandy beaches; outdoor enthusiasts come for hiking, biking, skiing and the endless watersports; wine afficionados love to visit the many wineries dotted throughout the area for tours, viewpoints and sampling; golfers dream of playing the world-famous golf courses set amid stunning scenery. It’s truly Canada’s natural paradise!

Lake Okanagan is the largest lake in the Okanagan Valley, running 120 km (about 74.5 miles) from the city of Vernon in the north, to the city of Penticton in the south. The lake’s average depth is 250 feet, and at its deepest point, it reaches an amazing 800 feet!

Seclusion Bay Resort is set right in the middle of this beautiful lake, on its own calm and private bay. Directly across the lake from the resort is the enormous Okanagan Regional Park. It covers nearly the entire visible east side of the lake. Here you’ll find “water access only” camp grounds, the beauty of unspoiled nature, quiet beaches and moorage points.

Only 5 minutes’ drive to the south is the charming town of Peachland with its beautiful beaches, waterfront park, boutiques, bakery and restaurants. Several wineries and the Ponderosa Golf Course are also located just above Peachland. For heart-pounding family fun, there’s also a zipline located near Peachland.

Five minutes’ drive to the north is the town of West Kelowna, which features movie  theatres, large grocery stores, restaurants and shopping centres.

A twenty minute drive to the north is the city of Kelowna (half an hour by boat), which has a new pier where you can park your boat. Here, you’ll find Kelowna’s newly-renovated downtown which features first-rate live theatre, a huge range of restaurants & cafes, live entertainment, movie theatres and many fascinating, unique boutiques. Kelowna also features several shopping malls and big box stores.
